My Childhood Nightmare

As a child I had a continuing nightmare

It's still vivid and as an Adult I painted 5 pictures to record it

Way back in the 1960s in Australia the Tv Stations didn't operate 24 hours a Day.

They stopped transmitttig at 11 pm ? And the TV would just show 'Snow' / Static

I became convinced that after that time they transmitted signals to tell the Monsters to come out. I remember seeing a Man walking through a Control Room and clicking the Monster Switch

 

I then saw the TV Stations antenna sending the messags to the Monsters to tell them to come out

 

While I didn't paint this scene, I saw Monsters waking up. They were under Rocks, In Trees and hiding in Drains

As I lay in Bed the Monsters started appearing. At the Window, under the bed... in every dark shadow in the Bedroom

 

I needed help. I couldn't step down onto the floor because the monster under the Bed would grab my Feet..

So I stood on the Bed and then Leapt for the Door ! If I was quick enough my Parents would hear me before the Monster grabbed me.
